Getting to know your new hire is a super important step in the onboarding process.
Below are a few questions to help you gain the insight needed for the journey of working together! 🌿
1) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀? Over slack, text, email, asana, verbally, etc.? 2) 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆? Some people really enjoy brainstorming/problem-solving sessions with others and some really don’t. The convo that occurs due to this question helps dig into this more. 3) 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸? Over email when it happens? On a call during a 1:1 check-in? 4) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂? This helps understand any emotional wounds that may be present. 5) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃. 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳? Sending your team a lil' treat every now and then is something you may feel like doing in the future...especially if your team has a love language of “receiving gifts”. 6) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳? Do they shut off their phone at 8pm? Do they take every other Friday off? Do they have a strict no-work weekend?
